A leading global food and beverage company engaged Climeaction to support continued regulatory compliance as well as the next phase of their decarbonisation strategy across their Ireland campus of sites.
The client had already undertaken extensive operational improvements and capital investments to improve process efficiency, expand production capacity, and reduce energy performance across its manufacturing operations.
Across one manufacturing facility, many conventional "quick win" opportunities had already been implemented, including boiler optimisation, equipment upgrades and process improvements. As a result, further reductions required a deeper analytical and engineering-led approach, focusing on compressed air system optimisation and the electrification of low temperature heat to reduce reliance on conventional thermal systems for air handling units, clean-in-place (CIP) systems and production processes.
Across the remaining facilities, further opportunities were identified through low-cost, no-cost and operational excellence initiatives to reduce electrical and thermal energy consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs. Longer-term decarbonisation opportunities were also identified, including the electrification of low temperature heat and wider thermal system optimisation to further reduce fossil fuel dependence.
Climeaction executed a full, SI426 compliant, FAST Climate Action Strategy, conducting a detailed Scope 1 and 2 emissions analysis across all facilities in the Ireland campus. This involved integrating energy data to establish significant energy users, understand the campus’ energy uses through load and consumption profiles, and develop targeted energy and carbon reduction pathways.
