Overview
A Dairy Manufacturing company spends >€20M/yr on energy and produces a variety of products including butter, casein, and whey powder. Their factory has expanded significantly over the years, as have their various facilities - including a mill and several retail stores.
Having already implemented many energy-reducing capital projects, this client engaged us to identify their Scope 3 emissions to achieve maximum energy savings.
The Challenge
This client has a long history of energy efficiency projects, having implemented many capital projects to reduce energy demands, expand operations, and increase outputs.
Unlike many clients, they had already checked off many of their "quick win" options for energy savings and carbon reduction.
In order to qualify for the coveted Origin Green certification, they needed to evaluate and eliminate Scope 3 supply chain emissions.
The Solutions
We implemented our FAST Climate Action Strategy, identifying hundreds of potential projects across all facilities.
One key project was identified for the main manufacturing site: implementing a 7.4MW Solar Power System. We worked with the client to thoroughly research and design this project: from stakeholder involvement to financial projections to Requests for Proposal.
Beyond this major project, we identified many low- or no-cost projects, which we are helping them implement through Climate Action as a Service (CAaaS).
