A long established Irish bakery engaged Climeaction to deliver a comprehensive, multi-year sustainability and decarbonisation programme focused on reducing the bakery’s carbon, energy, and ESG impacts. Through Climeaction’s FAST (Footprint, Audit, Strategy, Training) framework, the partnership provided annual carbon footprint assessments, a full Scope 3 and ESG strategy, ESG maturity analysis, and a climate action roadmap that identified 2,607 tCO₂e in potential savings across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
From 2020 to 2023, Climeaction supported this client in strengthening their sustainability performance through verified energy reductions under their Energy Reduction Programme, the implementation of several ESG initiatives, and ongoing employee and supplier engagement training to embed sustainability across the organisation. In 2024, an ISO 50001 Energy Management System was established and is currently managed by Climeaction, ensuring continuous improvement in energy performance and long-term decarbonisation progress. Before working with Climeaction, this client had already worked to reduce their impact. However, due to their large and complex value chain, they needed clarity on the full scope of their businesses impacts across Scope 1, 2 & 3, and to develop a clear strategy to reduce it.
Developed a holistic carbon footprint that covered the entire businesses operations identifying hotspots in the value chain for priority action, with a logical pathway to reducing the carbon and ESG impacts, and clear next steps outlined.
Following on from, we conducted ISO50001, Carbon Footprint Assessment for 2023 and training, B-Corp Readiness, Community Engagement Plan, Employee Engagement Plan and finally, Sustainable Procurement (Code of Conduct, Sustainable Procurement Statement, Supplier survey).
This bakery is improving the accuracy of their carbon footprint assessments annually and building on previous years ESG works to ensure they are continuously reducing their impact.
Their ISO5001 Energy Management System has identified 1,445,700 in kWh energy savings which will be reviewed and updated every two years in their Energy Review.
