Climeaction Case Studies

A leading global food and beverage company engaged Climeaction to support continued regulatory compliance as well as the next phase of their decarbonisation strategy across their Ireland campus of sites.
The client had already undertaken extensive operational improvements and capital investments to improve process efficiency, expand production capacity, and reduce energy consumption.
Across one processing facility, most conventional “quick win” opportunities had already been implemented, including boiler upgrades to run hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), equipment upgrades and process optimisation. As a result, further reductions required a deeper analytical and technical approach, focusing on compressed air system optimisation and the electrification of low temperature heat to reduce reliance on HVO for steam, for heat used in air handling units, clean-in-place (CIP) systems and production.
Across the remaining facilities, there were more opportunities for “low-cost, no-cost" and operational excellence projects, to reduce electrical and thermal energy consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs, as well as decarbonisation projects, including the electrification of low temperature heat to reduce reliance on natural gas.
Climeaction executed a full, SI426 compliant, FAST Climate Action Strategy, conducting a detailed Scope 1 and 2 emissions analysis across all facilities in the Ireland campus. This involved integrating energy data to establish significant energy users, understand the campus’ energy uses through load and consumption profiles, and develop targeted energy and carbon reduction pathways.
