SMEs

Climate action plans and responsible business services for Small and Medium Enterprises.

SMEs

SMEs are the sustainability leaders we need.

Most of the conversation around climate action focuses on the biggest corporations and heaviest polluters. Yet SMEs make up 90% of global businesses globally and are responsible for upholding global supply chains and providing 60%+ of jobs.

SMEs face unique challenges in sustainability: such as less financial and human resources than larger corporations. But SMEs also have unique opportunities that make it easier than every to take climate action:

1. Robust public and private funding opportunities
2. Leaner operations and supply chains
3. Clear strategies to leverage sustainability initiatives for brand-building

It's time to every business to take climate action - even SMEs.

We're here to make climate action simple, fast, and profitable for you.

Funding Opportunities for SMEs

We'll help you identify and apply for any funding opportunities available to you. Many of our SME projects are either partially or fully funded by grant and rebate programs such as these.

SEAI Energy Audit Grant

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland will offer SMEs a €2,000 voucher towards the cost of a professional energy audit. In most cases, this will cover the total cost of the audit. Application is easy, with automatic approval for eligible businesses.

Eligible businesses must be:

1. Tax compliant
2. A "non-obligated entity": a business or organization that does not have to complete an energy audit under Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive
3. Spending at least €10,000 per year on energy at the site being audited
4. Registered in the Republic of Ireland
5. Not already receiving another SEAI grant for the same project

GreenStart

GreenStart is a grant that offers €5,000 to help small businesses hire an environmental consultant for a maximum of 7 days. This leaves most businesses with an investment of only about €1,300.

GreenStart Projects vary in scope based on each company's needs, but may include guidance on:

1. Basic Environmental, Energy, or Carbon Management Systems implementation and improvement
2. Developing a corporate sustainable strategy to align with national & international frameworks (such as Origin Green, UN Environmental SDGs, or CDP)

2. Implementing environmental best practice within the company

2. Review of opportunities to reduce emissions
3. Detailed strategy to meet long term goals.

Eligible businesses must be:

1. Enterprise Ireland clients
